Hemmoor - This is an old quarry lake where we can do our open water dives.  It has a maximum depth of about 60m, but only in a few places.  It normally has fairly good visibility and there are several things to see apart from fish.

Hemmoor includes a very good set of facilities.  There are cabins to rent or a large camping area with electricity.  Showers and toilets are provided along with outdoor showers to wash off your kit.

There are two main entry points, both of which you can see in the pictures below.

The picture on the left is the entry point nearest to the main facilities and is the original quarry access road.  It is, therefore, kerbed for a good distance and provides a good 6 to 9m deep training area.  There are also platforms along the road if the visibility starts to drop on the bottom.
The entry point on the right is quite a long way from the main area.  It is a better access point for a dive to some of the other features, including the "Bridge".

This is a picture of the "Bridge".  It is in fact a machine which the quarry trucks used to reverse up to and tip their stone into.  The "Bridge" then used to crush the stone in the hole where these two divers are hovering over. It is approximately 19m to the top of the "Bridge".
Here is a picture of the car.  This is an excellent first sight for some one on their Club Diver course.

Fortunately it is not always as bad visiblility as this!!  You can see the road in the bottom right hand corner with the easily navigatable kerbing.

This also makes for a good first night dive.
